airBaltic partners ERV and ERGO Insurance Group for online travel insurance distribution

Latvian airline airBaltic, Airline of the Year 2009/2010 and Gold Award winner has signed a global agreement to distribute travel insurance with ERV, one of the leading European travel insurance companies. The insurance is offered as part of the flight booking process and can also be booked separately. airBaltic will initially offer the insurances in their major 15 European markets and intends to gradually roll it out to other markets.
ERV is a member of the ERGO Insurance Group and thus part of Munich Re, one of the world’s leading reinsurers and risk carriers. With premium income amounting to € 19 billion, ERGO is one of the major insurance groups in Europe. Worldwide, ERGO is represented in over 30 countries, focussing on the regions of Europe and Asia. In Europe, ERGO is the No. 1 in the health and legal expenses insurance segments.

ERGO with its local subsidiaries in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, will service the airBaltic clients in the Baltic States. In the other 12 European countries, ERV will provide the travel insurance for airBaltic customers.
Travel insurance coverage in the Baltic States is tailored according to ERV international model. Dr. Kestutis Bagdonavicius, Chairman of ERGO Baltic States Management Board: “This is completely new travel insurance product in the Baltic’s offered at very attractive prices. The main advantage for our customers is the facts that winter sport and snorkeling is included into insurance coverage without any extra insurance payment and uniform insurance premiums are applied for customers of all age groups”.
Insurance is sold at uniform prices that solely depend on air ticket price and geographical coverage chosen by the customer. The comprehensive insurance package comprises these insurance services: travel cancellation, baggage insurance (including electronic devices such as computer or mobile phone), medical cover and medical emergency assistance. Additionally customers are provided with an opportunity to purchase sports equipment insurance which apart from common insurance covers rental charges for sports equipment occurred regarding event insured.
